Normec OWS is accredited conform the requirements of the standard EN ISO/IEC 17020:2012 to perform the activities as described in the scope of accreditation 338-INSP. The current version of the scope of accreditation can be found ont his page. More specifically, this accreditation relates to the validation of data as well as the confirmation check on all legal obligations regarding the management of WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment).

Biodegradation and composting tests

As an independent lab, Normec OWS has built an international reputation in biodegradation and composting testing. In this context, the lab’s activities are carried out in line with GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) as much as possible.

Normec OWS is the only lab worldwide that is recognised by all certification agencies active in certifying biodegradable and/or compostable materials and products. In other words, certification from organizations listed below can be obtained with a single set of Normec OWS reports without the need to carry out additional testing at other laboratories.

Normec OWS is accredited conform the requirements of the standard EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 by BELAC as described in the scope of accreditation 338-TEST. OK Compost Industrial

Packaging or products featuring the OK compost INDUSTRIAL label are guaranteed as biodegradable in an industrial composting plant.

OK Biodegradable Soil

The OK biodegradable SOIL label is a guarantee a product will completely biodegrade in the soil without adversely affecting the environment.

OK Biodegradable Water

Products certified for OK biodegradable WATER guarantee biodegradation in a natural fresh water environment, and thus substantially contribute to the reduction of waste in rivers, lakes or any natural fresh water.

Seedling

Products that are in compliance with EN 13432 can be awarded with the Seedling logo.
