Technical Sales Officer

Job Description

Normec OWS has recently opened a new testing facility located in Kettering, Ohio, USA and now seeks one (1) new full-time technical sales officer to expand business and sales. The primary function of the technical sales officer will be to market and sell the company’s expertise and technical services spanning many aspects of environmental stewardship.

Function

The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential new clients, markets, geographies, industries, and trends for business expansion and growth
  • Generate leads through various channels, including cold calling, networking, attending events (tradeshows, conferences, etc.), and leveraging of digital platforms.
  • Develop sales pitches and proposals tailored to the needs of potential clients, effectively communicating the USPs of Normec OWS’ services while providing clients with expert advice on certification and testing procedures.
  • Engage in negotiations with prospective clientsto secure favourable terms and service agreements with clients, ensuring a win-win situation for both parties.
  • Stay at the forefront of technological advancements, researching emerging trends, and advising on how these could be integrated for organizational success.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their satisfaction, and identifying future opportunities for upselling or cross-selling by understanding their business and product pipeline.
  • Translate technical concepts into plain language, facilitating communication between technical and non-technical team members.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and execute business development strategies aligned with overall company goals.
  • Gather feedback from clients and the market to provide valuable insights for continuous improvement of our services.
  • Complete administrative functions necessary to protect confidential and proprietary information, receive orders, and facilitate client sample shipments
  • Provide weekly sales updates to the Commercial Manager (based in Belgium)
  • Adhere to established procedures of Normec OWS
  • Provide constructive feedback to enhance customer experience and satisfaction

Profile

  • Strong winner-mentality getting energy from acquiring new customers and new projects.
  • Several years of relevant sales experience in a business-to-business environment
  • Prior professional experience in one or more of the following markets: packaging, polymers/plastics, chemicals, paper products, composting, sustainability practices, materials manufacturing, life sciences
  • Working knowledge of many types of polymers and polymer formulations
  • Able to work accurately and precisely; high level of attention to detail
    Strong commercial flair and verbal and written communication skills for interacting with technical and management professionals from companies spanning from start-up ventures to Fortune 500
  • Flexible attitude and willing to travel up to 15%
  • Able to maintain the confidentiality of Normec OWS and client information
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Prior experience presenting in a remote format and online interaction with leads and customers
  • Highly organized with the ability to track and report communications and follow-up with prospective clients in a timely manner
  • Self-starter and able to take initiative and perform in a highly professional manner
  • Ability to work independently and with an international team of experts

Preferred work location can be remote in the Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus area with occasional reporting to the laboratory in Kettering, Ohio. Candidates with sufficient technical experience outside of this region may be considered. Scope of responsibility and compensation will be determined by qualifications.

  • Preferred fields of study include chemistry, engineering, materials, manufacturing, microbiology and related fields
