Sales Officer (m/v/x)

Normec OWS is currently seeking a dynamic new colleague to join us: Sales Officer (m/v/x) 

What challenges await you?

You are the vanguard of the Sales team, serving as our sales representatives. Your primary focus will be enhancing the BCDE (Biodegradation, Composting, Disintegration & Environmental safety) department, ensuring our commitment to environmental sustainability remains strong.

Main responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential new customers, emerging markets, and industry trends, facilitating global business expansion and sustained growth.
  • Initiate lead generation across various channels, including cold calling, networking, event participation (trade shows, conferences, etc.) and leveraging digital platforms.
  • Follow up on new requests (by telephone) and convince new customers by focusing on our USPs.
  • Translate technical concepts into plain language to facilitate communication to nontechnical contacts.
  • Putting customers in touch with our Sales Engineers and working closely with them to develop a tailor-made proposal for the customer and provide them with associated expert advice on certification and testing procedures.
  • Negotiate with customers to secure favorable terms and service agreements, aiming for a win-win situation for both parties.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensure their satisfaction and identify future upselling or cross-selling opportunities by understanding their business and product pipeline.
  • Identifying developments in the market and translating them into new products or services and optimization of existing products or services.
  • Prepare and deliver sales updates on customers and market information to the Commercial Manager.

What do we expect from you?

We’re looking for a colleague who:

  • Has a strong and positive can-do mentality.
  • Has professional, commercial flair and strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Has several years of relevant experience in business-to-business sales and preferably has received training in sales.
  • Has previous professional experience in a technical market such as packaging, polymers/plastics, chemicals, paper products, composting, sustainability practices, materials manufacturing, life sciences.
  • Is eager to learn and has an affinity with science/environment.
  • Proficient in both Dutch and English, with fluency in communication. Additional language skills are considered advantageous.
  • Exhibits a proactive, self-directed, and organized approach in tracking, reporting, and promptly following up on communication with both current and prospective clients.
  • Able to maintain the confidentiality of Normec OWS and client information.
  • Collaborative team player adept at working with an international team of experts.
  • Has no problem making short business trips.
